A Word (or Two) on Hate
The last 24 hours have been pretty funny. I've received a lot of FB comments / messages, emails and Twitter responses regarding my reposting of all the hate I've been getting about "All Beauty Destroyed". Most are asking "why". Lot's of you have been coming to my defense, praising the album and saying that it's great. To those of you, thanks! I'm always excited to hear people enjoy what I do. To those that hate the album, thanks! I'm glad it makes some of you reel in disgust or feel repulsed. I did something right, I guess. To answer the question, the reason I'm spreading the hate the way I am is because I think it's funny. It's amusing that people actually feel compelled to personally share their negative opinions with me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and it's totally normal to express those opinions on blogs, web zines or forums or whatever. That's what those things are for. What befuddles me are people who think that the classy thing to do is to fling those negative opinions directly at me. Would you walk into a restaurant you don't particularly like, walk up to the chef and proclaim "you suck!!!"? Probably not, that's pretty tactless and, in my opinion, shows a complete lack of social etiquette. Going out of your way to personally insult someone simply because you don't like their work is malicious and... well, lame. I don't care if you don't like my record. I didn't write it for you, I wrote it for me. I spent 3 years making it, it's important to me, and I wouldn't change it for any amount of your praise. I'm sharing your hate because I enjoy showing everyone what an asshole you are.

Subjective contra Objective
Beauty doesn't exist. This is just a concept nothing more. What I like u maybe hate it this is just subjective. I like to see corpses, do u like it? I think no, art of death gives me peace what are giving to u? I hate Picasso cuz this is ufff, I like Dali he is full of pain and death, his freaks give me peace.
And so on....
If u are a professional rewiever , subjective thinking doesn't work. U can hate somebody but have to think objectvie about his work.
U don't have to see person + art just art. Personality is something else, u build it with ur friends and family but not with ur work. Just think, I'm a doctor but I don't want to cure u because u are a killer, I hate ur voice etc... Fuck that!
If u are special u can make difference between subjective and objective.
Why are u special? Cuz u think what others want to think or because u have ur own mind?

There is no hope for humanity. Bring on the zombies.
haha but zombies are cool, humans aren't
Man, the only reason people are responding to the album like that is due to the fact that those old discs are god damn powerhouses of emotion. You should be proud of the fact that people take your tunes so personally and seriously that they feel the need (and freedom) to say shit straight to you if they didn't like the new one (despite it being exceptionally rude). Most artists could never hope to evoke that much of a response, and few do.
That artist/chef argument doesn't work entirely the way you think it should work. In both cases, artist/chef provides the product. If you buy a meal in the restaurant and the quality of product isn't what it used to be, of course you tell the chef that it wasn't as good it used to be.
If recording artist fall short with latest release, you either write something about it (as i initially did in my personal blog) or just ignore it and hope for the next release picks up the missing pieces. You can't return the record back to the shop just because you didn't like it.
But Daniel, remember that you opened this pandora's box with a post of screenshot. Maybe you thought it was funny to post some guys rant but you didn't think it all the way through. By posting it online, you gave a permission to other people to join this conversation where we argue if your latest record is the best or worst.
If you have handled this a bit more professional or mature and i mean simply just ignored the assholes, we wouldn't be having this little conversation right now.
Eskola! Pandora's box? Wot a hell are u talking about? Do u have some kind of psychically dissorder or something?Do u think u are professional in ur job(if it's ur job)? U just have to open ur eyes dude and look around and awake from dreaming. U can't tell people wot to feel. Artist/chef doesn't work - why not? If I don't like his meny I won't return again, if I don't like his art I won't buy.
Oh, Erica. You still like to rant like a lunatic. Pandora's box was my way of saying to not preparing for the outcome. It's a metaphor. I know it was fancy way of put it, but it works perfectly. You do know what a metaphor is?
And you're saying that I can't tell people what i feel? We don't work like that. Feelings are crucial part of the way how human works. Unless you're suffering from autism or after selling your soul to corporation. Don't take offence, but I'm starting to lean towards option one with your writings. I'm not the one who is throwing cliché expressions. Yeah, I already woke up year ago and smelled the coffee.
All I'm trying to say that we feel many thing and music is one them. When you listen to a music for reviewing purpose, of course you need to insert the same feelings to the words when you review a record. Sometimes it shows passion of love towards the record, sometimes it manifests in negative words. It's still showing emotions. If you try to analyze it with cold logic or whatnot, it just shows like you don't even listen the music correct way. You're just analyzing it from wrong perspective and treat music like fast food.
And what do you think is my job? Writing? Naah, writing is just a hobby. And i do it just for the fun.
"If I don't like his meny I won't return again, if I don't like his art I won't buy."
Yes, but there's always point of no return when you disliked the food first time or you didn't like the record you preodered. After that it's easy to just skip the restaurant/artist.
Daniel, even if your latest effort didn't bring the goods i hoped for, i'm not giving up on you. Not yet. You're still one of my favourite artist in whole EBM genre and i keep supporting you by buying t-shirt etc. I own you so much, thanks to three previous records.
"Niggas want my old shit, buy my old albums" - Jay Z
Eskola! Yes I do know what metaphor is. The question is do u know of the origin of Pandora's box? Do u know what is that symbolizes? Oh and yes I suffer from autism - autism = people like u, and no I don't sell my soul this is already sold. Ur " shitting" is just boring, u are a bitter man who is packed in his stupid box and peeping from it.I said u can't say to humans what they have to feel.Sure, I don't listen music correct way, I even don't listen a music, I just imagin it like I imagin the Paradise and Hell. Com' on who the hell are that u think u can't speak about me like this, u even don't know me. Hobby writing is bullshit then write a diary and not a review + u judge people in ur writings.
And a main point in ur post is " Daniel, even if your latest effort didn't bring the goods i hoped for, i'm not giving up on you. Not yet. You're still one of my favourite artist in whole EBM genre and i keep supporting you by buying t-shirt etc. I own you so much, thanks to three previous records." - ur use cynism like 13 years old teen. Congrat for this!
Or maybe I missunderstood something this is not a cynism just asslicking? hmmm, this is the mystery like Roswell or Da Vinci Code...
Your rant is becoming more and more incoherent. Erica, take a deep breath and relax. And who the hell i'm for speaking you like this? Did you bother to take a look at the mirror when you replied to me many occasion and insulted me?
No, i'll be the better person and stop this here. I already said everything i wanted. This word exchange is becoming so mundane and quite frankly, very silly. Take care of yourself, bye.
Thanks for compliment but I'm destructive
"Si duo idem faciunt, saepe non est idem."
Take care of yourself too. :D
Seriously people?
Daniel posted his statement and I like it, because I agree with it. In my opinion; he's right with the argument about the chef in a restaurant.
Isn't it actually rather sad that people are hating something this much when there was a tremendous effort put into it? Of course, everyone is allowed to dislike something, but is it necessary to insult the creator like this? I don't think so. After all, I just hope that he keeps up the good work.
What the heck, you'd think people would have so much more to do than complain.
Artists evolve; I know I do.
If you feel like an admired artist's musical style is evolving away from your personal tastes, then move on as well and find bands that DO have your style. Simple as that. Bitch at your boss or spouse, but not at someone who's producing music for your enjoyment, that is just inconsiderate.
I personally really appreciate the album for what it is, yes, it is different, but it is beautiful. Specifically, Celebrity Sin. Very good song to blast aloud in the car!
Everyone who disses artists should go create their own and see how difficult it is to please everyone. The end!
